My chipmunks
Milla (26.2.2001 - 26.2.2007)Milla moved to live with us with her sister Muusa from Oulu (the same city where I live) on 19.4.2001. Both were born as a home bred chipmunk and they were fully hand-tamed already when I bought them.... or could it be better say that they never have learn to be afraid of hands or human beings on the whole. Hands and touches of human beings were just normal things to them. The home breader of girls was named Terhi Pellinen. Their mother chipmunk was named Perjantai and their father chipmunk was named Lassi.
Especially in her youth, Milla was very talkative by nature and often she gave "kisses"
to me and to other people. Milla is the one (of my chipmunks) who has got the strongest instinct
for nest building (not continuously but every now and then). When Milla's instinct has been strong she
often has used to pack hair bunches, carpet tassels, clothes, skirt string and etc. into her cheeks.
Milla is also the greedest and the most sociable of my chipmunk flock.
As a structural being my girls are quite similar. When they were young, their colouring was different
as you can see from the pictures. At the present time the colouring is so similar that it's very hard to identify
them from that. Luckily their ears are different - Milla has more angular ears and Muusa has more open ones.
It's easiest to identify Kasper by sight from my chipmunk flock.
Compared to girls he looks much different and not only because of his opposite sex.
As you can see from the picture, the stripes of Kasper are slightly rose-coloured and the general base
colouring is soft greyish. As a structural being Kasper's head is more angular and his ears are rounder
compared to girls. Because Kasper was originally bought from a common pet shop,
he isn't fully hand-tamed like my girls. He doesn't like to be catched with a hand,
but you still can do it, because in spite of that he doesn't bite at all.
